Looking to increase the impact of your work? Need help finding your footing? If you could use more support, resources, or connections and standard networking isn’t cutting it, let’s talk about getting lucky. StartingBloc connects and supports leaders to grow as they lead change for good. Join us as we discuss and put into practice the science of luck to empower your work in social change. After a brief intro, we’ll break into small groups and engage in a guided activity. You’ll walk away with at least five new contacts and strategies for maximizing your success in personal and professional pursuits.

Melina believes in building strong, inclusive communities that are transformative for their members and the world. With a background in community development, people development, and marketing, Melina loves storytelling and its ability to connect all people to each other. Before StartingBloc, she co-founded Entelekee, a social justice collective offering pro-bono design and communication solutions to grassroots nonprofits. Melina holds a degree in Sociology from Loyola University Chicago. Born and raised a city kid in Chicago, but a lover of nature, avocados, and hot weather, Melina is thrilled to call LA home.
Everyone can participate in cultivating the good in our world. This fact is both terrifyingly large and absolutely actionable – and Kristine loves a good action item. Kristine is a trained public speaker and facilitator who holds a Masters of International Studies specializing in Rural Development. Prior to joining StartingBloc, she worked in international development for six years, founding and leading teams across the African continent and in India. Marcos Salazar is a social entrepreneur, career + life coach, consultant, speaker, and community builder. His passion is working with professionals, entrepreneurs, and creatives to help them pursue work they are passionate about, build authentic personal brands, become financially successful, and create lives that make the world a better place. He does this through 1-on-1 coaching, nonprofit and businesses consulting, and on a larger scale as CEO of Be Social Change where he’s built the largest social impact community and professional development hub in New York City. Marcos earned a B.A. in Psychology from Amherst College as well as a Masters in Organizational Management and an Executive Leadership Coaching certificate from The George Washington University.
